Description

Potted Flower — available exclusively at And-Art Works — is a mixed-media artwork on cardboard created by Annabel Andrews in a square format. At first glance, the subject appears simple: a white flower in a pot. Yet, the piece transcends the ordinary through the strength of Andrews’ expressive language.

Executed with colored pencils, graphite, charcoal, acrylic, and wax, the work creates a unique atmosphere where the flower seems to vibrate within the composition, surrounded by a halo of light that enhances its presence. Andrews’ free and gestural strokes reduce the form to its essence, balancing between figuration and abstraction: it is clearly recognizable as a white flower in a pot, while simultaneously serving as a poetic interpretation of everyday life elevated into a visual experience.

The expressive gesture, the textures of the cardboard, and the layering of materials highlight the artist’s technical mastery and her ability to evoke emotion through apparent simplicity. The result is an intimate and resonant piece that engages with contemporary spaces, adding freshness, brightness, and expressive strength.

Presentation: Fine Art print on premium giclée paper, a faithful reproduction of the original with maximum color accuracy, detail, and durability.

Ideal for: collectors, interior designers, and art lovers seeking figurative and expressionist works with strong emotional and aesthetic impact.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
