Description

In The Wall, Annabel Andrews creates a space of balance and quiet tension where geometry becomes an emotional language. Planes of warm ochres and oranges are structured by bold black elements with an architectural quality, suggesting boundaries, thresholds, and a sense of presence. The work does not depict a specific place; it evokes one.

Consistent with her exploration of geometric abstraction, Annabel Andrews develops a composition where precision coexists with subtle gesture. Layers of acrylic, pigments, and charcoal on cotton duck canvas create a textured surface with controlled depth and a refined visual rhythm. Linear elements organize the composition with clarity, while blocks of color provide stability and a sense of visual harmony.

With a large format of 146 x 114 x 4 cm (57.5 x 44.9 x 1.6 in), this original painting has a strong yet calm presence, capable of defining a space without overwhelming it. The Wall integrates naturally into contemporary living rooms, dining areas, and bedrooms, bringing warmth and balance, while also performing effectively in corporate settings, offices, and interior design projects where architectural clarity and minimalist aesthetics support a refined and timeless environment.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
