About the Project

An Open Letter to Art Lovers and Collectors

This project stems from a lifelong passion for art that began in my early childhood. My father, a devoted collector and lover of the visual arts, would often take me to visit museums and galleries across Mexico City. Among these, the Museum of Modern Art stands out as a formative experience—it opened a window onto extraordinary worlds of shape, color, character, and composition. These spaces, with their carefully framed works, transported me to places and emotions of great intensity, joy, and wonder.

Years later, this profound connection to the arts led me to pursue a professional career in the audiovisual field, where art consistently held a prominent role. I still recall my first feature—a report on an exceptional exhibition of Alexander Calder’s tapestries at the Museum of Modern Art—which became a turning point and paved the way for producing television series devoted to art. Many more documentaries followed, focusing on major retrospective exhibitions of acclaimed artists such as Rodin and Henry Moore. These projects were revelatory. I also discovered remarkable surrealist artists such as Remedios Varo, and had the privilege of interviewing her husband, Walter Gruen, for a documentary on this extraordinary Spanish artist exiled in Mexico. I later explored the fascinating figure of Frida Kahlo, as well as that of the great Mexican muralists Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco. Along this journey of cultural diffusion, I was fortunate to meet and interview influential figures in contemporary art including Mathias Goeritz, Rufino Tamayo, Carlos Mérida, Leonora Carrington, Francisco Toledo, José Luis Cuevas, and even Anish Kapoor in the early stages of his career—among many other renowned artists.

In a parallel area of my professional life, I contributed to the curation of museum exhibition spaces throughout Mexico, working with institutions such as the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City, the Museum of Northern Cultures in Paquimé, the Museum of Maya Culture in Quintana Roo, the Monte Albán Site Museum in Oaxaca, and the Museum of the History of Monterrey, among others. This experience also led me to curate exhibitions of contemporary visual artists in various institutional venues.

I have lived in Spain for over 25 years, continuing my commitment to fostering and promoting emerging artists. They are the core inspiration behind And-Art Works, a project conceived to open doors for talent from across the globe, without limits of age or creative approach. At the heart of this initiative lies a carefully curated selection process that prioritizes artistic quality. Drawing on more than four decades of professional experience—and guided by a refined sensibility—I seek out artists whose work demonstrates a high degree of aesthetic and visual excellence across a wide range of contemporary styles and movements.

This project brings together curators, art critics, cultural managers, and artists, all united by a shared vision: to engage with collectors of contemporary art, as well as with interior designers and architects for whom visual art is a powerful medium for aesthetic innovation and emotional resonance.

We are deeply committed to supporting artists in the development and presentation of their work, while also engaging with and advising collectors and design professionals to help them discover new voices and creative processes. Our aim is to offer art lovers meaningful alternatives that align with their needs and aspirations, and to provide them with the support and confidence needed to turn their desire to build a collection into a rewarding and trustworthy experience.

Thank you for taking the time to explore and learn about this inspiring project.
