Description

There is a moment in the day when light dissolves every distraction, leaving only the essence of form. Midday captures that quiet intensity—the instant when the sun reaches its highest point and space is defined by clarity, energy, and contrast.

Created in 2026 using acrylic and pigments on cotton duck canvas, Annabel Andrews builds a composition of remarkable visual strength through a refined and essential language. Against a luminous yellow field, bold black gestures interact with a single grey form that introduces balance and depth. Expressive brushwork and carefully orchestrated composition come together in a work where colour becomes both structure and emotion, creating a contemporary abstraction that feels dynamic yet composed.

With its square format and vibrant palette, Midday brings warmth and character to contemporary interiors. It is ideally suited to living rooms, dining areas, private offices, reception spaces, and interior design projects seeking a work that introduces light, energy, and architectural presence.

Selected by And-Art Works as part of its curated international collection of contemporary art, Midday reflects our commitment to presenting original artworks distinguished by artistic excellence, authenticity, and their ability to establish a lasting dialogue with architecture, design, and contemporary living.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
