Description

There are moments when everything seems contained within a minimal gesture, as if space holds a quiet energy ready to unfold. Envelope, by Annabel Andrews, emerges from this sense of contained tension: a form that does not fully close, suggesting more than it reveals and inviting the viewer to engage with its interior space.

In this work, Annabel Andrews develops a clear and balanced geometric abstraction, where a central plane in orange and ochre tones is structured by gestural black lines that define and activate the composition. Executed in acrylic and pigments on cotton duck canvas, the surface reveals subtle depth through layered color variations, creating rhythm without disrupting visual harmony.

The slight tilt of the central structure introduces movement within a controlled composition, establishing a dialogue between stability and dynamism that characterizes the practice of Annabel Andrews. With a format of 114 x 146 x 4 cm (44.9 x 57.5 x 1.6 in), this original artwork integrates naturally into contemporary interiors—from living rooms and dining spaces to corporate environments—bringing warmth, clarity, and a refined architectural presence.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
