Description

On certain winter days, when the light enters Marisu Solís’ Madrid studio at a soft, diagonal angle, she works surrounded by small fragments of paper she has already intervened with acrylic paint, scissors, and gestures that still retain the trace of her hand. Everything seems scattered—pieces torn from magazines, newspapers, turquoise and green papers still drying, edges cut or ripped by instinct. Yet for Solís, this apparent disorder is her natural territory. Her process is pure intuition, a quiet form of listening in which the material itself sets the rhythm. Her style—difficult to classify—moves between sensitive abstraction, contained geometries, gestural expression, and minimalist reductions that create unexpected harmony. Forms and Absences Green 6 emerges precisely in that moment when the individual elements begin to recognize one another and the composition finds its voice.

This fine art print reproduces a work created with intervened papers in green, turquoise, beige, gray, and blue, carefully layered and cut to form an abstract landscape of depth and texture. Unlike other pieces in the series, Solís omits black entirely: the only pictorial gesture is green acrylic, subtle yet decisive, binding the composition together. At the center appears a large square–rectangular structure composed of two vertical columns, each with oval cutouts that function as “absences”—windows revealing or concealing lower layers depending on how the papers intersect. These forms connect with rectangular bands in beige and turquoise, placed diagonally to link the different zones of the collage and generate a fluid reading. To the right, a column of four small blue filled ovals stabilizes the composition, acting as a clear visual counterbalance. Small typographic fragments—rotated, inverted, and barely legible—integrate as graphic whispers, enriching the texture without disrupting the lyrical abstraction that defines the series. The circular MS stamp marks the handcrafted and personal nature of Solís’ approach.

Forms and Absences Green 6 is ideal for contemporary interiors seeking refined calm: bright offices, minimalist living rooms, reading corners, executive workspaces, boutique hotel lobbies, or luxury guest suites. Its green and turquoise tones bring freshness; its layered transparencies add visual depth; and its geometric structure offers balance and sophistication. This artwork is an excellent choice for interior design projects that value abstract art, harmony, color, and modern composition without overwhelming the space.
