Description

Sculpture 0072 by José Manuel Chamorro belongs to his renowned series Faces Without Face, a pictorial and sculptural investigation into the simplification of the human face through a minimalist and geometric approach. Within this body of work, the artist explores the emotional and existential dimensions of pain, delving into the silent space between form and emptiness, matter and introspection.

Crafted in cement painted in raw black, this small yet powerful piece reveals a profound connection with material essence and the passage of time. The cement, with its coarse texture and inherent density, acts not merely as a physical medium but as a witness to time, integrating imperfection as part of its visual language. The open circular eye, a recurring element in the series, stands as a symbol of awareness and inner vision, while the simplified lines of the nose, mouth, and facial contour reduce expression to its purest form.

With dimensions of 24 x 19 x 19 cm (9.8 x 6.5 x 6.5 inches), this small-format sculpture is suitable for both indoor and outdoor display, engaging naturally with light and shadow as active elements of its composition. Through its austere geometry and contained emotional force, the piece evokes a profound dialogue between the organic and the abstract, the human fragility and the enduring permanence of matter.

A unique and original artwork within Chamorro’s creative universe, Sculpture 0072 stands as a refined and resonant piece for collectors of contemporary art who value authenticity, silence, and emotional depth — available exclusively through And-Art Works.
