Description

Faceless Faces 0032 is one of those works in which José Manuel Chamorro transforms the human face into a symbolic space filled with memory, emotion, and time.

For more than two decades, Chamorro has explored this series as if deciphering an inner language: the face as a map, a landscape, a silent testimony of lived experience. In this piece, the artist shapes a face that is not meant to be described, but felt—a face that reveals the echo of pain, the weight of history, and the depth of the human spirit.

Chamorro combines collage with paper cut-outs, fragments of historical engravings, and the tactile energy of oil paint, creating a physiognomy that moves between the human and the architectural. The composition is dominated by warm tones—oranges, golds, yellows, and ochres—balanced by deep blues. The circular eye, rendered in a lighter shade, acts as a point of illumination and the spiritual center of the work. The fragments of iconic architectural structures embedded within the face function as a metaphor: the human architecture shaped by the layers of experience accumulated throughout life.

With a vertical format of 70 x 50 cm (27.5 x 19.6 in), mounted on cardboard and adhered to a wooden support, this collage moves gracefully between geometric expressionism, expressive gesture, and the abstract reduction of the face into its essential elements. Chamorro does not illustrate a face; he constructs it, inhabits it, and lays it bare.

The work suggests that every fragment—every line, every color, every piece of history—belongs to the face each of us carries: a face that changes, breaks, rebuilds, and continues forward. It is an emotional reminder that our humanity is defined not by appearance, but by everything we have lived.

At And-Art Works, Faceless Faces 0032 is an ideal piece for collectors seeking meaningful, original contemporary art, rich in symbolism and emotional resonance. Its vibrant palette and layered construction make it a work that transforms any environment, drawing the viewer toward its luminous and contemplative core.
