Description

Calcuttan 08 is part of the Calcutta series by Annabel Andrews, an exclusive fine art print collection available only at And-Art Works.

This minimalist collage embodies the artist’s fascination with geometry, color, and silence. Against a vibrant orange background, a white window-like rectangle opens into an interior space where black and violet shape seem to float delicately over a soft beige field.

Andrews creates a dialogue between warmth and restraint — a conversation between color and emptiness. Every form, every hue, seems carefully placed, allowing light and space to breathe between them. The limited palette enhances the elegance and spiritual balance of the composition, turning simplicity into something contemplative and deeply refined.

Printed as a museum-quality giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper, Calcuttan 08 preserves the tactile quality and depth of the original collage. Its vibrant minimalism and sophisticated design make it a perfect piece for modern interiors, art collectors, and spaces that value calm, balance, and contemporary beauty.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
