Description

Calcuttan 07 is part of the Calcutta series by Annabel Andrews, an exclusive collection of geometric fine art prints available only at And-Art Works.

In this work, Andrews continues her exploration of color, space, and balance, translating her inspiration from India into a refined and contemplative visual language.

A deep cobalt-blue background frames a gray window-like rectangle that holds the core composition: white vertical bars intersected by a small black triangle, a violet fragment, and a floating black semicircle above. Each element feels intentionally placed — suspended between precision and intuition.

The composition evokes a quiet sense of spatial order and meditative clarity. The sharp geometry contrasts with the softness of the color field, creating a tension that feels both rational and poetic. Beneath its minimalism lies a subtle spiritual energy — a sense that something unseen connects the forms and the space between them.

Printed as a museum-quality giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper, Calcuttan 07 captures the delicate textures, depth, and harmony of the original collage. It is a vibrant yet tranquil work, ideal for modern interiors, minimalist environments, and collectors drawn to the balance between emotion and geometry.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
