Description

This artwork belongs to a new series where the gestural stroke of thick black lines are the base of the composition and the white and gray shapes delimit the gestural expression. It is based on the branches of the trees and seeing the light between the tops. The forest landscape that surrounds my environment is an inexhaustible source of motifs and ideas for my painting. It is a work with a zen touch.

It is made with acrylic paint on cotton duck canvas, which I prepare with a casein glue primer that I prepare myself and with diluted pigments. The artwork is signed on the front and on the back.

Annabel Andrews is a British-born visual artist based in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid, Spain.

Her background includes: Honors from the Royal Drawing Society of London, the Municipal Sculpture Workshop of Las Palmas, and the Eduardo Peña Academy (Madrid). She has also participated in Contemporary Art Workshops at the Círculo de Bellas Artes with José Guerrero and Pablo Palazuelo; the Printmaking Workshop of Las Rozas; an Printmaking and life-drawing workshops at the Casa de Cultura de San Lorenzo de El Escorial; and a Landscape Course at the Museo del Prado and the García Ochoa Group. She has held 46 exhibitions, 21 solo and 25 group exhibitions in London and Madrid. Her awards include: First Prize, Majadahonda City Council, Madrid, 1990; Honorable Mention, Majadahonda City Council, Madrid, 1989; Honorable Mention, 4th Villa de las Rozas Competition, Madrid, 1987; First Prize, Peña, Madrid; Selected, Centenary of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, 1980; First Prize, Caja de Ahorros de Majadahonda, Madrid; Selected, Francisco Alcántara, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, 1978; First Prize, Majadahonda City Council, Madrid, 1977; Second Prize, Atlantic Fair, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, 1975.

Her works can be found in private collections and institutions in Spain, the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates.
