Description

“Blue Trees” by Annabel Andrews is a striking Fine Art Print based on her original oil on linen painting created in 1995. In this vertical composition, two tree trunks rise against a luminous forest background, where intense blue tones dominate the scene, accented by fragments of red, deep greens, and soft yellow highlights that illuminate the edges of the trees.

Inspired by the Fauvist painters and infused with a playful homage to Henri Matisse, one of her major influences, Andrews transforms nature into a vivid emotional landscape. She pushes color beyond its descriptive limits, using bold, expressive brushstrokes that turn the act of painting into an exploration of feeling and movement.

“Blue Trees” is both a celebration of color and a rebellion against realism. It bridges the worlds of Impressionism, Fauvism, and abstraction, creating a work that feels timeless yet daringly modern. Each brushstroke radiates spontaneity and vitality, inviting the viewer to experience the joy and freedom of artistic creation.

Perfect for modern living spaces, art studios, or interiors seeking character and energy, this piece brings depth, warmth, and emotion to any environment. It is a painting that breathes — alive with color, light, and the spirit of expression.

"On beginning to wonder why art has been important to me through so many years, and knowing that vitality dies with an excess of reason, I could talk about the balance between instinct and reason, and how to express myself technically with materials and colour through spontaneous intuition -with an aesthetic feeling - for a cluster of forms and colors arranged to stir the reader in a way that music does.

In an outer world of chaos : abstract painting can appeal to our senses to find psychic equilibrium."
