Description

The Serene Lady” is a serene and elegant standing sculpture that embodies quiet strength and inner balance. Carved in cherry wood, the female figure stands with closed eyes and gently crossed arms, conveying introspection, dignity, and calm presence.

The delicately incised motifs across the surface, combined with aged gold and silver leaf, create a subtle luminosity that enhances the sculpture’s symbolic depth. The iron base introduces a contemporary contrast, grounding the piece while reinforcing its timeless character.

With its refined verticality (160 cm), this work functions beautifully as a focal point in living spaces, entrance halls, offices, or contemplative interiors, bringing warmth, sophistication, and artistic identity to the environment.

A unique sculpture that unites craftsmanship, noble materials, and humanistic sensibility.

Artist

Marta Prats

Marta Prats Calleja was born in Madrid in 1948.

A multidisciplinary Spanish artist, her practice encompasses sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and watercolor on paper. Her work is rooted in contemporary figuration with a strong humanistic foundation, where the human figure, nature, and the animal world become central subjects within a sensitive and timeless visual language.

She holds a Fine Arts degree from the San Fernando School of Fine Arts and further expanded her training through studies in printmaking, jewelry design, bookbinding, and restoration, consolidating a solid technical foundation and a deep respect for craftsmanship. This artisanal dimension is particularly evident in her sculptural work, where she employs wood, clay, stone, and metal, occasionally incorporating recycled materials that add both poetic and ethical depth to each piece.

For twenty-four years, she developed an extensive teaching career in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, an experience that strengthened her connection to manual processes and the transmission of artistic knowledge.

Her work is held in private collections in England, Germany, and Spain, and is distinguished by its balance between expressive strength, formal sensitivity, and aesthetic coherence—qualities that position her as a solid presence within the field of contemporary figuration.

She lives and works in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid, Spain).
