Description

In Dialogue with the Landscape, Mariano Blázquez “Pardito” unfolds an emotional territory where the landscape becomes a sensory memory rather than a direct representation. Fields of colour — luminous yellows, vibrant reds, deep greens and blues, with accents of violet-black and lighter areas — create an expressive atmosphere in which each hue seems to pulse, overlap, and dissolve with organic fluidity. The irregular, softly diffused forms evoke an inner horizon in constant transformation, inviting the viewer into a quiet exchange with their own recollections of place.

This medium-format vertical acrylic on canvas moves between lyrical abstraction and contemporary colour-field painting. Pardito explores pigment as emotional structure, shaping a surface where boundaries blur and chromatic tensions generate depth without relying on figuration. His interpretation of the landscape is intuitive and open, anchored in experience rather than depiction.

Owing to its chromatic strength and balanced expressiveness, the work integrates naturally into interiors seeking a piece with presence and sensitivity. Its verticality provides a vibrant focal point for living rooms, studios, or creative workspaces, while also complementing more neutral environments by adding warmth and dynamism. It is a painting that reveals itself in layers, offering new resonances depending on the light, the setting, and the emotional state of the viewer.

Dialogue with the Landscape is an exclusive piece available only on And-Art Works, a platform committed to showcasing emerging contemporary artists with authenticity and care.

Artist

Mariano Blázquez "Pardito"

Mariano Blázquez is a self-taught visual artist born in San Lorenzo de El Escorial in 1948. Known artistically as “Pardito”, he has developed a rich and extensive creative career spanning several decades. His work, deeply intuitive and free from academic constraints, is the result of a perceptive gaze capable of absorbing and reinterpreting the world through a deeply personal sensitivity.

With over 30 solo exhibitions and more than 20 group shows, his artistic production includes painting, sculpture, drawing, and collage, in an eclectic practice defined by constant experimentation and the use of recycled materials. For Pardito, the creative act stems from an inner drive—a vital need to create—beyond any predefined technique or artistic style.

From an early age, he combined his artistic pursuits with work as an industrial painter, developing a strong manual skillset and discipline that would become hallmarks of his practice. At just sixteen, he took part in his first group exhibition, marking the beginning of a close and lasting connection with the cultural life of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. In recognition of his contribution, the town awarded him the first Medal of Artistic Merit of the Royal Site.

His visual language is rooted in figurative expressionism, though it also resonates with abstraction, geometric forms, and color field painting. Constantly evolving, his work speaks to us through authenticity, creative urgency, and the power of the genuine.
